His desires above our desires

James 1:14-5: But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. [15] Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

"Follow your heart" is such a common saying, but when we really think about the phrase in the Biblical context, it's not really what we're called to. God calls us to follow His heart and His desires for us, not our own. Because as it is written in James, our desires lead to sin and ultimately our own destruction. That's not to say we can tell our Father what we desire, but it is always so important to make sure that what we want in life is also what He wants, because only then would life be fulfilled.
