Power of God's Love

2 Samuel 14

Reading how Joab interceded for Absalom's relationship with David revealed to me compassion, boldness, and wisdom/discernment. Although Joab had no part in their conflict, his compassion and love towards them and their relationship together allowed them to eventually reconcile with each other. Through this act, Joab also shows boldness. Personally, I have a lot of difficulty being confrontational with people, even when I know I should be in certain situations.  If I was Joab and saw Absalom and David in conflict, I'm sure I wouldn't have intervened. I would've probably made an excuse saying that, "because I'm not a part of it, I'm in no position to say or do anything."

John 15:12-13 says:
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

Not only should I strive to genuinely love others to demonstrate Christ's love to them, but I'm also called to help others love each other in Christ Jesus. God's love is not confined to only certain relationships in my life, but should be present in all of my relationships; for He and His love for us is that powerful and worthy.

Lord, I pray for more compassion, boldness, and wisdom to fill my heart so that I may powerfully demonstrate your amazing love in my relationships with others, and for their relationships with others. I pray that I may have a heart that is quick to forgive others, and that I may continuously build my brothers and sisters up in Christ's love. Open my eyes so that I may see your people like you do and love them the way you do.
